Michael Somerscales was born in England and immigrated to America in 1964 where he attended Berkeley and obtained an M.F.A. from Stanford. He works in various media; oil, acrylic, watercolor. He and his wife , Kathy, live in Portland and enjoy frequent visits to the coast for inspiration. Education.  B.A.  UC Berkeley  M.F.A. Stanford Lived in Missouri for 25 years, exhibiting at various venues throughout the Mid West. Painted landscapes for most of life with occasional forays into other subjects.  Recently specializing in Plein Air painting to capture nature's authentic light, but still primarily seeking harmony of shape and color. Works in various media.  Oil, Acrylic and Watercolors. Oil paintings usually have an underpainting in acrylic to speed the process.
