Michaels love for what he does is reflected in his highly-textured oils and acrylic paintings. Most of the pieces Michael creates are abstracts, done in bold, vibrant colors, many on large canvas.
Michael is excited about seeing his art in the upcoming movie titled Nothing But the Truth, starring Kate Beckinsale, Matt Dillon, and David Schwimmer, due out in January 2009.
His art has also been featured in national magazines such as Art Business News (named as one of Today's Top Artists); Artists and Galleries of the South; and At Home in Arkansas, as well as many local and regional publications.
Perhaps his biggest venture to date has been the acceptance of a commission to paint a series luxury grand pianos for the Baldwin Piano Company. His first grand, titled Beauty in B Minor, sold to an international dealer within 15 minutes, and he has been busy since with more pianos.
In addition to his love of painting, Michael is also a professional musician, and has been featured on two Carnival Cruise Line ships, as well as a starring role in a Memphis area production of Damn Yankees, two appearances on The Nashville Network, and as the lead singer in a Mid South dance band.
When asked why he loves to do what he does, Michael answers, Fine arts have been my passion over the years. Music and painting go hand in hand. Theyre both fun to create, but much more fun when shared with others. Its all about making life better for people by adding a little color to their world. Abstract expressionism is where I am. The individuality and creativity of an artist can be shown in such a personal and unique way in this area of abstract art. Feelings, ideas, and the human spirit are depicted with great freedom in this genre to which I so closely identify.
A man who has many facets to his life, and who chooses to embrace them to give light and wonder to others, is a gift, and we have such a gift in Michael Ethridge. Michael uses all of the experiences in his life to draw on a well of talent that he shares with those around him through his art.
