As an artist I feel very fortunate that I have been able to make my living for nearly 30 years, developing my skills and exploring the many diverse mediums with in the realm of art while finding my own unique path. The work I am now creating I believe is a result of this long process of refinement and allowing myself to be drawn to that which I am creatively most compelled.

                                                                                                                  -Brad Lorang

Brad Lorang, an artist since child hood, can create something out of nothing. His first sculpture was a bust of his father carved out of gorge sandstone at age 10. Born in the Dalles, OR in 1958, Brad spent much of his early years painting and drawing. His first commission was a mural at age 13. Brad began his career in art in the early 70s as a graphic artist and illustrator. His schooling included the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. In 1976, he entered the world of bronze casting and sculpting. He worked in a number of West Coast foundries and through the years he perfected his skills as a Patina Artist. Patina is the chemical coloring put on metal art work. Brads talents in sculpture became known in the mid 80s to several national companies, Quality Collectibles and Chesapeake Reproductions to name a couple. He was commissioned to do portrait busts of presidents, historic figures, sports stars, and famous singers. His art work can be found in most Presidential Libraries, The Smithsonian, The Confederate Museum, and the Flight & Space Center. Brad was also commissioned to sculpt a 7 foot replica of the Statue of Liberty for the City of Gresham and a life-size original piece featuring Lewis and Clark for the Troutdale Historic Museum. In 2003, Brad added a new skill to his many talents, the art of steel wall sculpture. His full color, three dimensional wall pieces depict The Gorge, Mountains and Wildlife Scenes. His biggest piece to date is 10 x 6.  His latest commission was 60 steel fish for Shahala subdivision in Cascade Locks, OR. Currently, Brads work can be found at Primary Elements in Cannon Beach OR, Columbia River Gallery in Troutdale OR,  Made in the Gorge in Hood River OR, and Lorang Fine Art in Cascade Locks, OR.  In addition to Brads artistic talents the general election of 2008 named  Brad Lorang the Mayor of Cascade Locks Or.
